Cost: £5

Cream tea: 4.8 star

Experience: 4.5 star (a little too child/ family friendly for us come peek season)

We rounded up a small team to experience the infamous cream tea Tom marvelled over in Port Isaac. Due to unforeseen circumstances our party was side-tracked to the Strawberry Centre, leading to a rather pleasant surprise.

On arrival it looked like a an over-priced garden centre/ gift shop/ grocer/ cafe.

We spent £30 on cream teas between the 6 of us and sat outside in the sun with a load of sheep and groovy chickens.

A lady walked out carrying a mountain of scones and the biggest portion of cream we have ever seen accompanied by the teas. We prepared a few scones as the tea was brewing as Daniel had told us there were only tea bags between the six of us. We soon realised that Daniel’s Dutch counting skills couldn’t be trusted and there were intact 6 tea bags.

The cream and jam were both plentiful and delicious- complimenting each other perfectly. The scones were light and spongey (didn’t crumble)

After we’d finished stuffing our faces and daring each other to finish off the last mouthfuls, we fell into an intense cream tea coma- a sleep that rendered us all useless for the rest of the day. Georgia even had to call in ’sick’ to work the next morning.

WARNING do not consume these particular cream teas if you have any plans for the next 24- no- 48 hours.

We have marked them down because their Wallabies look sad.
